How to turn a Strava route into a poster (step-by-step)

To turn a Strava route into a poster: connect Strava (or upload a GPX file), pick the activity, choose a layout and colours, add your stats, and order a digital, unframed, or framed print. The whole process takes a few minutes in Mappa Studio, and you don't need a Strava account if you have a GPX file. Here's the full walkthrough.

1. Get your route out of Strava

You have two options. The fastest is to connect your Strava account in the studio, which lets you browse and import your recent activities directly. If you'd rather not connect Strava — or you're making a print of someone else's run — you can export a GPX file instead.

To export a GPX from Strava: open the activity on the website, click the three-dot menu, and choose "Export GPX". Most watches and bike computers (Garmin, Coros, Suunto, Wahoo, Apple Watch) can also export GPX directly.

2. Pick a layout

Mappa Studio has three layouts. Classic puts a single route front and centre — ideal for a marathon, a big ride, or a memorable hike. Multi-route layers several activities onto one map. Mosaic arranges many activities into a grid, which works beautifully for a whole season of training.

3. Style it

Choose your colours, map style, and typography. Keep contrast high so the route line reads clearly against the background, and don't be afraid of plenty of empty space — a single bold line on a clean background usually looks better on a wall than a busy design.

Add the details that tell the story: distance, moving time, elevation, the date, and a title. These small captions are what turn a map into a keepsake.

4. Choose a size and format

Prints come in A4, A3, A2, and 18×24 in, unframed on fine-art paper or framed and ready to hang. A3 is a safe default for most rooms; A2 makes a statement. Every printed order includes a free, full-resolution digital download, and standard shipping is free.

5. Order

Check out for a digital download, an unframed print, or a framed print. Prints are produced to order and typically dispatched within 3–5 working days. If it's a gift, you can ship it straight to the recipient — we pack discreetly with no pricing on the slip.
